Advancing skin cancer care, one study at a time

"The best care is informed by both experience and evidence."

Research interests spanning the entire skin cancer journey — from prevention and risk reduction to melanoma biology, immunology and personalised patient care.

Research has been a constant thread throughout my career and continues to shape how I care for patients today.

My involvement in skin cancer research reflects a commitment to improving prevention, diagnosis, treatment and long-term outcomes for patients. By actively participating in research and clinical trials, I aim to ensure that the care I provide is informed by the latest scientific evidence and emerging developments in the field.

Prevention

Reducing risk in vulnerable patients

"The most effective skin cancer treatment is prevention."

In collaboration with colleagues at the UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network, Dr Sinha contributed to research examining the feasibility of nicotinamide as a preventative treatment for skin cancer in organ transplant recipients — patients who face significantly increased rates of skin cancer.

Melanoma biology

Understanding the disease itself

"Every advance in skin cancer treatment begins with a deeper understanding of the disease itself."

Research into the role of immune cells within melanoma, biomarkers that may predict treatment response, and novel approaches to immunotherapy. Work on tumour-associated macrophages has shaped understanding of how the tumour microenvironment influences melanoma behaviour.

High-risk patients

Care that requires lifelong vigilance

"Some patients require more than treatment. They require lifelong vigilance."

Dr Sinha contributed to the development of national guidance for individuals with constitutional POT1 pathogenic variants — a genetic condition associated with increased melanoma risk — improving surveillance strategies for patients who require lifelong monitoring.

Surgical innovation

Precision in skin cancer surgery

"The smallest details can make the biggest difference."

Work examining innovative approaches to Mohs micrographic surgery and rapid immunocytochemistry techniques — designed to improve diagnostic accuracy and surgical precision while preserving healthy tissue wherever possible.

Bringing research into practice

Research is valuable only when it improves patient care — through better prevention, earlier diagnosis, more effective treatment and lifelong skin health.

"Today's research becomes tomorrow's standard of care."

  1. Protect

Through prevention, education and sun protection.

  2. Preserve

Through accurate diagnosis, thoughtful treatment and skin preservation.

  3. Prevent

Through surveillance, risk reduction and long-term skin health.
